What is a Tummy Tuck?
Abdominoplasty, more commonly known as a Tummy Tuck, is a type of Cosmetic Surgery that involves operating on the stomach area to make it thinner and more firm.
The procedure flattens the abdomen by surgically removing excess fat and skin. In cases where muscles have weakened, the procedure may also include the tightening of the abdominal wall.
A Tummy Tuck is generally performed as an inpatient procedure, either under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia with sedation. The incisions are typically at, or just above, the pubic area.

This depends on the size of the tummy. Typically a Tummy Tuck takes 1-2 hours. Larger tummies can take 3-4 hours depending upon the amount of skin to be removed, contouring of the hips, and the thighs.
Do I need to lose weight before a tummy tuck?
Yes, if you are too overweight for a stomach tuck, your surgeon will advise you to get into your target weight range and stay there for a period of time.
