Frequently Asked Questions About Liposuction.
Can’t find what you are looking for? Ask your own question here.
Are liposuction results permanent?
The fat cells are removed permanently during liposuction. But you can gain weight back, with new fat cells, which usually go to different areas, all over your body.
Is liposuction a safe procedure?
As with any major surgery, liposuction carries risks, such as bleeding or a negative reaction to anaesthesia.
Will there be scarring after my surgery?
Many people are concerned that the operation would leave them with numerous scars. The incisions are all less than a centimeter long and may appear red and elevated at first, but they will lighten and blend in with the skin as they heal. Lightening creams and other methods can aid in the reduction of the appearance of scars that aren’t healing properly.
What are the different types of liposuction?
How your liposuction procedure is done depends on the specific technique that’s used. Your surgeon will select the appropriate technique based on your treatment goals, the area of your body to be treated, and whether you have had other liposuction procedures in the past. Types of liposuction procedures include:
- Tumescent liposuction
- Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL)
- Laser-assisted liposuction (LAL)
- Power-assisted liposuction (PAL)
Am I a good candidate for liposuction?
In general, good candidates for a liposuction include: Adults within 30% of their ideal weight who have firm, elastic skin and good muscle tone. Healthy individuals who do not have a life-threatening illness or medical conditions that can impair healing.
How do I prepare for liposuction surgery?
Your surgeon will give you guidelines for the days leading up to your liposuction procedure. Make arrangements for a trusted friend or family member to drive you to and from the surgery centre, as well as to assist you with postoperative care. Before the surgery, any blood thinners, such as aspirin, should be discontinued. Blood tests are performed before to general anaesthesia to determine that you are a good candidate for anaesthesia. No food or drink should be ingested for roughly 12 hours before the surgical appointment time on the day of the procedure.
